Taking this defensive driving course
for ticket dismissal
If you want to attend a defensive
driving course to get your Texas traffic ticket

intentions. Next, the court will enter a judgment
on your plea of no contest or guilty at the time
the plea is made. The Texas court will allow you
90 days to complete your defensive driving course.
Our TEA approved online defensive driving course
is accepted by all Texas counties and jurisdictions.
What to do after you
complete the defensive driving course
After you complete our defensive
driving course, you will be required to present
the court with a copy of your completion certificate
and a copy of your driving record. You can obtain
a copy of your driving record by clicking
here and following the directions
on the page. You will also be required to provide
the court with an affidavit stating that you were
not taking a defensive driving course when you

must also attest that you had not completed a
defensive driving course in the 12 months before
the date of your offense for another ticket dismissal.
How to get your insurance
discount up to 10%
Many Texans are not aware that they
can take a defensive driving course to receive
an insurance discount, but it's true! Most insurance
companies will give a Texas driver a discount
of up to 10% for taking a TEA approved defensive
driving course (this applies even if you are taking
your defensive driving course for ticket dismissal).
This insurance discount applies over a 3-year
period. We suggest that you contact your automobile
insurance provider before taking this defensive
driving course to learn their procedures for obtaining
your insurance discount before taking the course.
Note: You can only take this
course for insurance discount purposes once every
36 months.
How to get an additional
5% insurance discount
*76[R] HB 3757
authorizes Texas drivers to receive a mandatory
5% insurance discount for taking a 6-hour DADAP
course. This means that
if you have already received a 10% Texas insurance
discount for completing a 32-hour drivers ed course
or a 6-hour defensive driving course, you can
take DADAP for an additional 5%, resulting in
a total insurance
discount of 15%. If your policy
is $1,000 a year, your total insurance savings
would be $450 over a 3-year period!
